What Causes Stretch Marks?
Stretch marks are something that can affect anyone, no matter their age or gender. And in most cases, the person is going to have stretch marks at some point in their life. They are going to find that there many causes that makes these stretch marks appear on the skin. The areas in which these stretch marks are going to appear really depend on the person and what is causing these stretch marks. However, most people are going to experience these stretch marks on their thighs, stomach area and perhaps even their buttocks.
The main reason that stretch marks happen is because the skin is being forced to expand by being pulled too tight. The skin then stretches to accommodate this growth, however, since the skin is being stretched so fast, it actually creates scars in the layers of the skin. A stretch mark is the visible appearance of these scars. At first, the mark will appear a purple or red color and over time can start to fade to a whitish gray color. So what specifically causes rapid skin growth and stretch marks?
As stated before there are many causes. You'll find that growth spurts that most people have during puberty can lead to stretch marks. You might also find that pregnant women are going to experience stretch marks around their abdomen and thighs. Professional body builders who are working their muscles and stretching the limits often deal with stretch marks on their biceps and other areas that they work. Gaining weight is the main cause of stretch marks, which means that anyone is at risk for these marks to develop.
Overall, stretch marks are basically unavoidable for most people, male and female, since no one can say that they will never gain weight or do something that causes the skin to stretch. However, there are ways in which the person can lessen the appearance of these stretch marks and not have to feel self conscious about themselves or their bodies.
